An update from Amsterdam
We have made it to Amsterdam and in two days time we have lived a lifetime. It has been non-stop excitement since the moment we put our feet on the pavement.
Friday was spent checking into our lovely houseboat and scavenging for essentials - beer and water. We had the most amazing Chinese Dinner EVAH! Seriously, it put American Chinese to shame and then had a little walk in the neighborhood...uhm the Red Light District.
Saturday was a blast as we started with a lovely trip to the local library to steal internet bandwidth to check emails and alert family that we'd made it" and enjoyed a most delightful lunch on the terrace overlooking the city. Next we delved into the city - truly - by taking a canal boat tour and looking at Amsterdam from below street level. I then met up with the most amazing group of fun guys, the listeners from Feast of Fun at a local bar and spent several hours chatting. Even more surprising was the arrival of the ever lovely Mr. & Mrs. TBF and the quite delicious Canadian Swiss & Orange X, it was wonderful to finally wrap my arms around the lovely CS and gaze into her amazingly blue eyes! It is always so much fun to meet "bloggers" in real life and put flesh to words on a screen.
We've been resting and realxing, sitting on the deck of the boat watching Amsterdam go by.
You can check our some Photos over on Facebook HERE and HERE, I'll upload higher quality photos to flickr when I get home.
See you soon, and wish you were here, seriously, I do!

Look who's going on vacation
Look who I picked up at rehab this afternoon? Of course she got out just in time to head off to Amsterdam so she can start the whole process all over again.
If it's one thing that Flo Mingo really enjoys - it's rehab!
Flo has got a jammed pack schedule in Amsterdam. She's going to be meeting up with a whole bunch of bloggers from Switzerland and France - she is so excited she could just pee.
She's also planning on meeting up with some fans of the Feast of Fun (formerly Feast of Fools) and give out some surprises that Marc & Fausto gave her.
But most of all she is looking forward to spending a fabulous time in Amsterdam with her closest and dearest friends, smoking, joking and causing general havoc all while trying to evade Interpol.
Wish her luck, cuz she's gonna need it!

Just a few more days
I'm sorry that I've been absent from my blog for so long, I feel as though I've neglected you by twittering and updating Facebook instead of here....but I've been busy darn it.
I had been hoping that Winter would be a nice, calm and restful season - but it wasn't - in fact it was way busier than I had anticipated or wanted it to be.
I've been busy writing for The Examiner and my weekly column for ChicagoPride and it consumed more of my time than I had thought it would - but good things have come of it and hopefully some things will change soon. You'll be the first to know when good news comes around the corner.
I've also been busy planning a vacation....a big vacation in fact - to Amsterdam - to celebrate my 40th birthday. About 18 months ago my best friend said "Why don't we go to Amsterdam for your 40th?" and that's all it took to put the wheels in motion. Since that time we've been planning this huge trip, booking a houseboat, coordinating travel schedules and activities and keeping everyone up to date on what's happening.
We leave on Thursday for 10 glorious days in Amsterdam. There are 8 of us flying from the US and planning to meet up with several blogger friends (which I'm excited about) as well as hosting a "meetup" for fans of the Feast of Fun show that I've had the privilege and honor to be a part of. We've been planning museum jaunts and day trips and what food we'll need while we're on the boat.
Keep tuned in because I'll be posting photos and videos from our trip!
