Is that all?

I hardly ever do meme's (I don't know why), but I found this one on Robin's site.

Here goes:
1. Delve into your blog archive.
2. Find your 23rd post.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your blog along with these instructions.

Typically, my co-worker and I go home for lunch, we live across the street from each other about 2 miles from the office, so it’s really easy to go home.

Ah...such excitement.

Now everyone play along nicely!

A Quiet Weekend is Upcoming

Thank goodness because last week just took all of the tar out of me. It's hard being a RockStar and partying all the time......believe me you, they can keep it.

The Boyfriend is out of town this weekend. He went to Columbus, Ohio to perform at Six Flags with the Flaggots Ohio so it's going to be pretty quiet.

Planning on going to a GLBT "Mixer" downtown Chicago after work today and going to have a facial tomorrow (I got a Gift Certificate last year for x-mas and I have to use it soon).

So it's going to be a very quiet, relaxed, uneventful Weekend.

Although, it is Bear Night at Touche tomorrow night...hmmmmm

Pass the Diazepam please

Yesterday, Leo Sternbac, the invetor who created Valium passed away.

Although I've never personally taken Valium, I hear that it's wonderful, anyone want to share a story (or an extra prescription?).

Will & Grace Season Premiere

Did anyone else watch the season opener of Will & Grace.

I must admit that I have not been the biggest W&G fan as of late, I just never seem to be around on Thursday nights to catch the original show, but do watch the re-runs on occasion.

Last night I had the chance to watch the opener, which you may not be aware, was a "LIVE PERFORMANCE"

The show had a bit of a "soap opera" look to it because it was live (vs. taped and edited) but that was easily overlooked. The cast did an amazing job last night, not only did they do it straight through to the first commercial break (15 minutes non-stop) but they never broke character.

Grace (Debra Messing) ALMOST did, which was hilarious because you could see she was trying so hard not to laugh when she was talking with Jack (Sean Hayes) but he brought her back to earth and they continued on.

The BEST part was when Jack took off his eye patch and he was missing his right eyebrow. The look on Grace's face was the best I have ever seen, it was obvious that it was the first time she (or anyone else on the cast) had see it becuase their reactions were so spontaneous. Then after he unveiled his "painted in" eyebrow to the cast, Karen (Megan Mullally) almost lost it but she never broke character.

Alec Baldwin was great (he really enjoys playing a gay man doesn't he?) It was too funny that they got a Tom Delay joke in there considering it had only happened the day before.

It is Will & Grace's last season, and that is ok! They had a great run - 7 years - and there will be others to follow. Thanks for making it ok to be gay : -) (at least on TV)

Doesn't she look just like....

a Drag Queen? I'm not putting her name here because she doesn't need any more publicity.

I think she looks terrible as a skinny person, she looked much better as a Big Girl.

Funny Thing - there's a charity auction called "Clothes off our backs" (again no link sorry but you can find it) where actresses are auctioning off their dresses from the Emmy's. Guess how much has been bid on this dress?

What's in my Murse

What's in my Murse

Vegas - Vegas - Vegas

Check out the pictures via slideshow

We had a great time even though we missed Andi by a day.

We stayed at the Jockey Club which is right next to the Bellagio, every night we had the opportunity to watch the Fountain Show every fifteen minutes. Paris was across the street and we could see as far north as Treasure Island.

This was our view (click on it to view the full size)

We sort of got screwed up a little bit in our timing because we were planning on doing our sightseeing/walking tour on Thursday Night, but instead spent that in Denver. When we got into town on Friday the first thing we did was go to the Grocery store to stock up (we had a kitchen in our suite). You know you're in Vegas when there's Slot Machines at the local Von's.

We spent the day walking around the City and then went home to take a nap. We went to see Avenue Q at the Wynn on friday evening and had cocktails sitting on the patio.

We had great seats at the show, they built this theater specifically for Avenue Q, so the seats were comfortable in a stadium seating arrangement. The show was hilarious and we laughed through most of it.

Saturday we spent the afternoon at Jimmy's friends house (they had a big Chicago Style Birthday party for him) and Saturday night we went out to a few of the sad gay clubs.

Sunday we spent most of the day recovering from our night of partying, it takes a lot out of you. We drove downtown to the old strip and rode a ride on the Stratosphere on the way back home.We finished up our tours by walking South on the Strip and ended up eating nasty pizza instead of a nice dinner.

We did a little bit of gambling, not much, just a few dollars here and there. Sunday we ended up packing and going to bed early since we knew we had to be up early and checked out by 11:00 am.

We got all done, got the car packed and went to the Liberace Museum which just happens to be in a strip mall along with a gay bar, a "weddin chapel" and a korean medicinal facility.

Fortunately no one was killed (or murdered) we all got along for 5 days and enjoyed hanging out in the city.

My View

Looking out my living room window this is what I get to look at.

Overheard in Las Vegas

As we were standing watching the fountains at Bellagio this conversation transpired next to me:

Girl: Where are all the birds?
Guy: What?
Girl: The birds, I haven't seen any birds.
Guy: I don't know where they are.
Girl: Well I was expecting to see some Seagulls.

I tried not to laugh but it was too funny, apparently she didn't realize that Seagulls live next to the seashore. I guess she figured since we were standing in front of a 22 million gallon lake some seagulls should live there.

Stories of the Murse

Well we're back from Vegas, I'll give an update later this evening but wanted to share a funny story with you.

Last year when The Boyfriend and I went to London I bought my first Man Purse (or Murse as I like to call it). I always carry my camera with me along with a notepad, my cellphone, etc and I found a nice bag for the purpose.

Well since that time I am now on my FOURTH Murse, I find one I like but then after awhile I am disillusioned with the style (or lack of) and try to find a new one. I can totally see how someone can get addicted to having many different styles of murses, needing one for every occasion.

I found a new Murse a few weeks ago when I was trying to find a "messenger" type bag that I could carry my Camcorder in (my other Murses' were too small). I think it's a nice size (not too big) silver back pack looking bag that's big enough to carry a book, cameras, cell phone, iPod, extra batteries, headphones, pens, change, keys etc.

When we were in Vegas we went to the Stratosphere (which is a big spire) and they checked our bags and made us walk through a medal detector, as I handed my bag to the girl she said, "Wow this is a great purse," as she looked up and saw it came from me she turned beet red!

So on that note, I wanted to share this story with you, as I think this may be my next Murse purchase.

Looks like we made it

Whew, we made it to Vegas!

Long story short, when we got to the airport in Chicago the plane was not there, apparently it was deadheading from somewhere to start it's run in Chicago. The plane was 45 minutes late because of Air Traffic Control/Weather issues, when we did board we made it to the tarmac before they called off all take off/landings because of lightening.

We sat on the runway for about 45 minutes, the problem was we only had a 60 minute layover in Denver, so we knew that we missed that one. But there was another flight at 9:25 that we thought we could catch, well we didn't.

We ended up getting stranded in Denver and because the FAA called "weather" the airline (UNITED AIRLINES) was under no obligation to put us up for the evening because we missed the last flight.

So we got a hotel close to the hotel and by the time we got there it was 11:00 local time, we were starved so called Pizza Slut - they were closed, as was Domino's Applebee's and Outback, we ended up going to bed hungry.

We got up early this morning (4:30 am) and headed back to the airport to grab a 7:00 am flight and we made it to Vegas.

It's BEAUTIFUL here, lots of people to look at, lots of things to oggle.

Just got back from the grocery store so we'd have some food and gonna go lay by the pool.

Oh and by the way, we're in the Penthouse Floor!

And we missed Andi, but she made her presence known that's for sure.

Denver? And not the Omlette Kind

Just a quick post from the road.

We spent the night in Denver. Our flight was delayed from Chicago and we missed both connections so we're catching a 7:00 am flight to Vegas!

So much for having a No Drama Weekend!

Las Vegas Bound

Well the time has come!

We are boarding a plane in a few hours for the exciting destination of Las Vegas to celebrate The Best Friends Birthday.

Whenever I go on a trip with a group I always like to put together an "information" packet so everyone has the same information.

This trips packet is titled "The JM Birthday Experience" I even made a crappy logo using MS Publisher (I'll take a picture and post with the rest when I return.) Each person has a personalized program with their photo on the front, hopefully they'll laugh about it and not thing "poor thing she has nothing better to do."

I got a wonderful phone call this morning. I was sitting at my desk and my cell phone starts ringing, the funny thing about that is my cell phone never rings during the day. I look at the number and I think "Who the heck is that?" I answer the phone and I hear, "Michael --- It's Andi"

I actually got to talk to the Wonderful Andrea Knapp we had a great conversation where she told me about the hotel (we're staying at the same place) and that there was construction and no maid service (we're gonna be a bunch of cranky queens I'll tell ya). It was exciting to talk to Andi, I was concerned that I might not understand her considering that the only gauge I have of her voice is from this post from the darling Ms. Mac.

All of the boys are truly sad that we will not see Andi in Vegas, but we all know that her spirit will be with us to continue on the party!

I promise to take lots of pictures (a lot of panorama's too) and I'll post when I return. We get back late Monday night and have to be at work Tuesday morning so it will be mid-next-week sometime.

Have a great weekend!

And don't do anybody I wouldn't do!

A Moral Question For You

This test only has one question, but it's a very important one.

By giving an honest answer, you will discover where you stand morally.

The test features an unlikely, completely fictional situation in which you will have to make a decision.Remember that your answer needs to be honest, yet spontaneous.

Please scroll down slowly and give due consideration to each line.

===============================================

THE SITUATION

You are in Florida, Miami to be specific. There is chaos all around you caused by a hurricane with severe flooding. This is a flood of biblical proportions. You are a photojournalist working for a major newspaper, and you're caught in the middle of this epic disaster.

The situation is nearly hopeless. You're trying to shoot career-making photos. There are houses and people swirling around you, some disappearing under the water.Nature is unleashing all of its destructive fury.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

THE TEST

Suddenly you see a man in the water. He is fighting for his life, trying not to be taken down with the debris. You move closer. Somehow the man looks familiar. You suddenly realize who it is. It's George W. Bush!

At the same time you notice that the raging waters are about to take him under forever. You have two options--you can save the life of George W. Bush, or you can shoot a dramatic Pulitzer Prize-winning photo, documenting the death of one of the world's most powerful politicians.

THE QUESTION

Here's the question, and please give an honest answer:

Would you select high contrast color film, or would you go with the classic simplicity of black and white????

What is up with the voiceovers?

What is up with the voiceovers on Martha Stewarts: The Apprentice?  There are times when she is talking and the voice just sounds too practiced, too rehearsed to be spontaneous.

Like in the beginning when she “acknowledged” by name several of the players, and they cut away to Martha but the picture is just a bit different (lighting wise) and you know she’s doing it after they have all left and she’s like “now who the fuck was that?”

More blatant is in the Conference Room, there are places where her voice just doesn’t sound right, it’s too pure, there’s no background noise.  It’s apparent that they recorded these sessions after it was taped, the biggest giveaway is when they don’t show her face.

By this time you’re probably saying: “Why isn’t Michael watching Lost?”  Well I’m taping that, cuz the bastards put Martha on at the same time!

Enjoy the last day....

...of Summer.

Today is the offical last day of Summer and thus tomorrow starts Autumn, our quick and terrible descent into the cold and windy days of Winter.

But on a brighter note, we leave tomorrow evening for 4 nights/5 days in beautiful sunny Las Vegas to help celebrate at 40th Birthday.

Hello, it's only twenty-five cents

A guy took his blonde girlfriend to her first football game. They had great seats right behind their team's bench. After the game, he asked her how she liked the experience. "Oh, I really liked it," she replied, "especially the tight pants and all the big muscles, but I just couldn't understand why they were killing each other over 25 cents." Dumbfounded, her date asked, "What do you mean?" "Well, they flipped a coin, one team got it and then for the rest of the game, all they kept screaming was: 'Get the quarterback! Get the quarterback!' I'm like ... Helloooooo? It's only 25 cents!!!!"

Shine On

Shine on Harvest Moon.

I hope that you're enjoying the Full Moon, it was beautiful last evening as I walked home from The Boyfriends around 8:30 or so.

The air was crisp but not cold and the moon was low on the horizon so it looked beautiful against the backdrop of the city.

Did you know that every full moon has a name?

September's full moon is the Harvest Moon, read about it here.

Anybody know what a "Blue Moon" is? No cheating by googling, give your best guess.

*****ANSWERS FOLLOW******STOP READING IF YOU DON"T WANT TO KNOW*****

Here are all the references I found to a "Blue Moon"

1. A "Blue Moon" is considered the second full moon in a month.

2. A "Blue Moon" is also the third full moon in a season, so there are potentially 4 a year.

3. After the fall of the Roman Empire it was important for the church to determine Church Holidays so it was based off of the lunar calendar (i.e. Easter) and there are 12 full moons in a year (so one per month) but sometimes there are 13 in a year, so the Church called that a "Blue Moon"

4. Per Veggie - it is true that the moon can appear blue due to atmospheric conditions.

Check out this link which tells a lot more than I can put here.

I just had to share this

Have a GREAT and FUN Weekend!

Distressing News

I received a terrible email this morning.

I received an email from the Beautiful and Alluring Ms. Knapp

As you may recall from previous posts there's a group of us going to Las Vegas to help celebrate a 40th Birthday, and lo and behold Andi was going to be in Vegas the same time as we were and on top of that, we were staying at the same hotel!

Finally, I would have one over on Ms. Mac she would no longer be the only one to post funny stories and pictures about Andi, I could join in that fun as well.

Well alas, it is not to be. Andi got the dates mixed up when she is going to be there and she's leaving the day that we are arriving. So hopefully we'll be able to pass in the airport, wave and give quick air kisses on our way.

The Birthday Boy is crushed as the rest of us are as I've built up the excitment of meeting Andi and hanging out with a crazy Brit.

Oh well, I'm sure we'll figure out something to do while we're there.

The easiest way to boost your ego on the Internet

I think that I found the easiest way to boost your ego on the Internet.

I was hitting the “next” button on Blogspot and seeing who was out there and I happened upon two entries (right after the other) that really got me.

Both posts were about “I’m quitting my blog” and the person going on saying why they originally started this blog and where they are now and blah blah blah. You should have seen the number of comments that were listed just for that one post. Everyone going on about ‘oh no, I love reading you’ to ‘how can I drink my coffee in the morning if I’m not reading about you’ to ‘you’re the only reason that I get out of bed and go to work everyday’ and I thought:

WOW

Feeling a little blue? Feeling a little sad? Feeling a little bad because you put on 185 pounds after you broke up with your last boyfriend?

What a great way to boost the ego, I mean seriously who’s gonna leave a nasty comment telling someone that yeah go ahead do it, quit? No one is gonna do that, right? They’re all gonna leave sugar sweet comments to encourage you to stay, right?

I did leave her a comment (anonymously)

“Hi, I found you by using the next button. I agree, you should quit blogging, your grammar is terrible, and I can hardly understand your sentence structure. Why are you missing most of the vowels and some consonants in the words you use, don’t you have a spell checker? Thanks for leaving space on the internet for the rest of us by not blogging anymore”

No I didn’t (but I wanted to)

ROBBED

First of all, I was not robbed, The Best Friend was robbed this afternoon.

The Best Friend and I work at the same company and we live a few blocks away from each other. We only work 2 miles from home so we always go home for lunch alternating at my place or his.

Typically, we go to lunch at 11:30 (since we get here at 7:30) but today I had meetings from 11:00 to 1:00 so we couldn't go until after that.

Today we were to go to his house for lunch, as we were walking up the back stairs we noticed that the screen door was wide open and then when he put his key in the deadbolt he realized it was unlocked. All he said was "I'm sure that this was locked this morning, that's really strange."

As we walked in, there was a blanket on the floor, we just figured the dog had pulled it out, but then as we walked through the kitchen there were a few video tapes on the floor, along with a container of spanish rice and a raw flank steak (still in the saran wrap). The things from the fridge were still cold, so apparently it hadn't been that long since they had been there.

The thing that's so odd about all of this is, he has a dog. And when he's not there the Dog barks at strangers. The Dog wasn't hurt or anything so not sure how he reacted to them being in the house.

Other than that nothing seemed out of order until we got to the bedrooms. All of the drawers were pulled out, and there were clothes and stuff all over the place but everything looked "normal" the TV was there, DVD player, VCR, checkbooks, credit card bills, wrapped coins, it was just weird. It appeared as though they were looking for something very specific.

All of things that you think you would steal were there, a bike by the back door, a stack of DVD's and CD's. We called the po-po (don't you love my gang slang) and an officer came about 15-20 minutes later, she took a report and called in the fingerprint guys!

We did figure out how they got in, through a window which they then "fixed" so they could re-enter at will.

I just talked to The Best Friend and he said he figured out that they stole his digital camera, the room-mates laptop, some money that he had stashed away (but only about $40) and his laundry bag (that's how they carried their goodies away, just like Santa Claus).

People really piss me off sometimes!

*** An Update *** I just talked to The Best Friend and it turns out they got a lot more of his stuff, some jewelery, some more money he wasn't aware of (coins, why?), a CD player. The Cops got some good fingerprints (I just hope some of them aren't mine, LOL, as I'm on the run from da' law). I printed up some flyers for him to pass out to the neighbors to see if they saw anything and he's gonna go looking in the trash cans in the alley to see if they threw stuff away. Again, Poeple really piss me off sometimes.

No, you can't pee

The Spawn of Britney Spears

Ok, let's see how many hits that gives me.

OMG, Britney Spears had a baby boy

Here's to her deciding that she REALLY likes being a mommy and decides not to make a comeback. She may realize her dream of being barefoot and pregnant, here's hoping she gets that dream.

Recent Search Criteria

Do you have a counter on your blog? If you don't, you should really check one out, they're quite an amazing little toy.

Basically it keeps track of computers that have accessed your website, sort of like Caller ID for the web. But you can see where people came from (who referred them) to where they went, how long they stayed, etc.

One very cool feature is the ability to see what "search criteria" someone entered in a Search Engine and returned your website as being a big hit.

Here are some recent keywords people have searched on, and for some god forsaken reason, they ended up at my site.

Search Criteria: Jennifer Anniston in Vanity Fair

This has been a HUGE hit for me for about 6 weeks. I posted the article about two weeks before it hit the stands and suddenly I was getting LOTS of hits. Well come to find out, I was number 1 on Yahoo for a direct link, and do you wanna know why? It's because I spelled her freakin' name wrong! But I got 100's of hits from that!

All of the following just returned the user to the main page of my blog:
- How do I find out if the computer I bought is stolen
- How do we know the world is coming to an end
- How do you know you are gay for sure

I've gotten two requests for:
The No Eyebrow Lady in Greenville, SC

Some of the odder Requests:
Lost one of her shoes
Please don't park in my space
I want to be a porn actor
What to write in a card when someone gets something stolen

What's been brining people to your site lately?

The Weekend Update

I hope that everyone had a great weekend, it was beautiful weather here in the Midwest so we decided to take advantage of it as much as possible. I know who wants another "weekend update" but there are some interesting links to follow.

Friday evening we went out to our favorite bar Big Chicks to meet up with some friends and start the weekend out right.

Saturday morning we slept in, a rarity these days. Although sleeping in for me is 7:30 and 10:30 for The Boyfriend (no not really it was only 9:30).

We went shopping at Target and I bought a whole bunch of DVD’s. If you’d like to see the movies I own check out this link. One of the things I got was LOST, so we’ve been having a mini marathon. I’m only up to Episode 10 so I’ve only got 9 more hours of watching, as it’s going right now I’ll need to call in sick tomorrow just so I can stay home and be caught up by Wednesday evening. I can’t believe that I’m spending so much time watching this series, but it is truly riveting.

Saturday evening we went to see The Aristrocrats. no, not the animated Disney feature with all of those cute kitties. It’s a documentary of the telling of the joke “The Aristocrats”, there were more than 70 comedians from Phyllis Diller to Bob Saget to George Carlin all telling their version of the joke (well Phyllis didn’t tell a version but she was funny anyway).

We went with our friends A&T but they wanted to go see Red-Eye which I thought was really odd because they’re not the type of people who enjoy scary movies, but they were insistent that that’s what they wanted to see. About 5 minutes after the Aristocrats started, who walks into the auditorium but A&T. The theater was full so they ended up sitting in the front row (hey at least it wasn’t a tennis match or an action flick) so we didn’t find out until the end of the show what happened.

They went to the auditorium, got comfortable and started reading the “on screen” trivia that plays before the movie starts…. one of the questions was about the new Jodie Foster movie Flightplan, it was at that moment they realized they were in the wrong movie and the one they wanted to see didn’t come out for 2 more weeks. So they canned that and came over to watch the Aristocrats.

Sunday was fairly busy as we had to be downtown Chicago by 11:00 for our entrance to the Toulouse-Lautrec exhibit at the Art Institute. We spent about an hour going through the exhibit and then about 2 more going through the museum, it was nice to have some culture for a change, it’s too bad the general public was there. I’m always so surprised at how rude people are, just walking right in front of you and stopping to look at the same thing you are. I understand that when there are 500 people walking through the exhibit at the same time there’s going to be some of that going on, but I always tried to be careful of where I stood so that I wasn’t blocking people.

We met up with our friend Tr and did some shopping at the Virgin Megastore where they were having a $10 sale. I ended up getting 3 movies and 5 CD’s (like I need any more). We were so bushed by then that we went home and crashed.

I watched some more Lost and went to bed early to get ready for a wonderful Monday morning.
I hope that you had a great weekend!

A Moment of Silence
I'm embarrassed to say that I forgot that today was September 11th. It wasn't until I was on the train that I realized what day it was.
A moment of silence for those who lost their lives in the September 11th tragedy and all of those familys still suffering from the loses.

LOST Marathon

I know I'm a half of a week late to be catching up now.

But I have a feeling I'm not the only one watchign Lost all weekend to get caught up with the new season that starts this coming week.

We need help!

I need some help. You know what they say “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.” So based on that, I think that we need some aliases for the weekend.

Here's what we've got so far:

The Boyfriend: ???

The Best Friend: Ivana Dew-Abump

The Best Friends BF: ???

Me: Isabell Ringing

Viva Las Vegas

Well we’re less 2 weeks to being in Las Vegas.

My Best Friend is turning 40 and he wanted to celebrate in Vegas. So it will be BF, The Boyfriend, The BF High School BF and me taking over Vegas by storm.  Yeah right, every queen East of the Mississippi has said that.

We do have some fun things planned:

  • Limo picking us up at the airport and giving us a little tour (there was a 2 hour minimum on the rental)

  • We’re going to see Avenue Q at the new Wynn Hotel on Friday evening.

  • The BF has friends that live there and they’re having a BBQ on Saturday

It looks as though I’ll have my chores cut out with me on this group, they’re going to be a difficult group to manage and take on tours, I can see it now.

Are there any places that are a “must see”  I want to go see the street that’s covered with the LED’s is it Fremont St or something like that?  But what else is a “don’t miss”  I like the offbeat and strange so let me know.

There is more to share to this story.

Most exciting of all…….plans are being made to meet the infamous Parachute Jumping, Having Appendix Taken Out, World Traveler Andrea McKnapp.

A while ago I posted that we were planning this Trip and Andi left a comment that she was going to be in Vegas the same weekend.

What a Coincidence, you say, but wait there’s more.

After a few quick emails to say “WoW”, “Cool” and “I can’t believe it”  the question of lodging comes up.

Well now wouldn’t you know it…..we’re booked at the SAME hotel!

Now THAT’S a Coincidence.

So now, are the boys not only worked up about going to Vegas and 24 hour debauchery, the boys are all getting worked up to meeting Andi bosom in person.

Finding out there are words

Have you ever heard one version, say an instrumental version, of a song and then find out there are words to it?

The first time this happened was with the song “A Whiter Shade of Pale” (corrected thanks to Veggiebabe) the only version I had heard was on a Narada CD played by David Lanz, a beautiful piano rendition. Out of all the songs on that CD that was the one that I enjoyed the most, I could “sing” it in my head, it was the one that turned me on to David Lanz as well (aurally not orally).

Then one day I was in the car and I hear this very familiar melody and I look at my friend and I say “are those words?” My friend looks at me and proceeds to tell me that the song had always had words what was I talking about.

I was a little crushed that day, here I thought David Lanz wrote that…then that bitch Annie Lennox comes out with her version, and then that cow Sarah Brightman, it’s everywhere now, I hate it. **I love Annie and I especially love Sarah**

The new song that now has my head is the theme to Bewitched. I can really hum along to that song, just imagine my consternation when I was looking for “sounds” of Bewitched (tinkle tinkle tinkle) when I came across this version of the Theme with freaking words.

So now my whole world is shattered. Please don’t tell me there are words to the Mork & Mindy theme song.

Oh if you were interested, here are the words

Bewitched, bewitched, you've got me in your spell.Bewitched, bewitched, you know your craft so well. Before I knew what you were doing, I looked in your eyes. That brand of woo that you've been brewin' Took me by surprise. You witch, you witch! One thing that's for sure,That stuff you pitch, Just hasn't got a cure.My heart was under lock and key, But somehow it got unhitched.I never thought my heart could be had.But now I'm caught and I'm kind of gladTo be bewitched. Bewitched.

Apparently ExxonMobil is anticipating profits of more than $10B this quarter, that's $10,000,000,000.

A 69% increase over the same period last year, and a 34% jump from last quarter.

They're making a profit of $110M a DAY.

Also because of legislation that was passed earlier this year for "energy" Exxon is recieving a tax break so that they can do expand production by drilling new deeper wells.

This just sucks!

Finding out where food comes from

I should premise this story with the fact that I grew up in the country and I know where food comes from. One fall my father had killed a cow and had it hanging in the barn to age a bit before sending it to the butcher, an aunt was visiting and asked “What’s that?” At which point my Dad told her it was beef, and she said “Oh no, that’s not beef. Beef comes from the grocery store on those little Styrofoam plates.”

So I know where food comes from.

Over the weekend we didn’t eat lunch and it was late in the afternoon so we decided to order a pizza. Being 5:00 we figured we would try someplace new to order from instead of the same old places we usually get pizza from.

I’m looking through the menu’s at The Boyfriends house and I find one from a restaurant who’s name I recognize, in fact we had ordered from them once before.

We place our order and it arrived soon (but not as quickly as we had anticipated) and it was actually pretty good.

Then The Roommate came home and we said help yourself to some pizza. He grabs a plate and starts eating and asks “where did you get this from.” We tell him the name and that we’re not sure where it was but they must be nearby.

The Roommate then proceeds to tell us exactly where this pizza parlor is located, in a scummy, scary, dirty little “strip” mall wedged between a City Welfare Office and a Salvation Army store.

Well let me just tell you when I found out “where” this pizza had come from I was very sorry I had eaten it. I had been by this pizza place (when I was going to the Salvation Army store) and had vowed I would never eat there.

It’s terrible when you finally realize where food comes from.

New Orleans

I know I said that I would let others discuss the tragedy in New Orleans, but I wanted to share this link with you.

As you may know, Google now has a map service with satellite imagery.

Today they have posted satellite imagery of New Orleans after Katrina, here's a view of the Superdome

New Orleans

I know that everyone is talking about everything going on in New Orleans, so I'm going to let them.

I feel terrible for the tragedy that has occurred and I know that as a country we will get through this.

Check out this link to Nasa, check out the animation that shows what N.O. looks like with up to 15 meteres of flooding.

The Weekend

I haven't posted any pictures in a while, so briefly here's what we did over the weekend.

I've omitted any pictures that may have me in compromising or unflattering poses so you'll only get to see the Disney G rated version.

What did YOU do over the weekend?

I don't understand

Take a look at this article

What I don't understand about this article is that there were 3 men, who were all sex offenders, who all lived in the SAME HOUSE?

There was actually legislation passed in Illinois this year that forbids Sex Offenders from living together, so much as saying that can't even live in the same building (but different apartments).

How can the state of Washington allow 3 convicted Sex Offenders to live together? It just boggles the mind.

The New Celery Diet

I received an email today of "weird and unknown facts" this was #24 on the list:

Celery has negative calories. It takes more calories to eat a piece of celery than the celery has in it to begin with.

Starting tomorrow all I'm eating is Celery, I'll be thin by Christmas!

Thank you to everyone who posted a comment about the passing of my Grandmother, I am doing well, trying to continue on and live everyday to it's fullest (I think that's all any of us can do). Thank you for taking the time to leave a note, I shared them with my Mother she was astonished.

I hope that everyone had a great weekend and had a chance to relax and enjoy it.

We had a pretty busy weekend, Saturday night we went to Sam's Club (to pick up my new glasses, which I might add look pretty good considering that I picked them out all by myself.) and the Grocery Store, then in the evening The Boyfriend and his Roommate had a little cocktail party.

Sunday we went downtown to Navy Pier which is a HUGE tourist trap, but there was an outdoor Art Exhibit that I wanted to see. The exhibit was pretty lame but fortunately the day was saved. Navy Pier has a large collection of Stained Glass on display everything from Tiffany to Church Windows, etc. We spent about an hour looking through that, very interesting. I took a lot of pictures and they turned out great so I'll post them later.

We walked back towards Water Tower Place and had a nice dinner at RL (which stands for Ralph Lauren.) We sat outside on the sidewalk cafe and had a very enjoyable dinner. The food was good, the prices were expensive, but the server sucked. We were not dressed for "fancy" dinner but then we said, it's on Michigan Avenue they've got to expect tourists. Well I guess the Server decided we were tourists because he treated us as such, to the point that when we were leaving he came over and grabbed the check folder and opened it (in front of me) to see how much of a tip I had left him....rude boy!

Yesterday we went to The Boyfriends Mother's house to install some landscape lighting in her back yard. We actually worked together very well, we didn't yell or curse at each other and no one ended up crying in the car on the way home. The only bad thing about the day was we had gone for Mani's/Pedi's (I know we're so gay) on Sunday so The Boyfriend ruined his because he was digging in the dirt.

We went to some friends last evening for a "final summer" cookout where we ate, drank and "smoked" way too much.

I promise I'll post more this week!

It's weird how things work out?

Sorry I haven't posted since I've returned home, but I haven't thought of anything witty, funny or sarcastic to write about.

I did want to share something with you that is very strange though.

My Mother's Father passed away in 1955 when she was only 12 years old. This year was the 50th Anniversary of his passing. A few weeks ago she went to the local newspaper put a memorial ad in to commemorate the occasion on Monday the 29th. She had a very nice picture of him with the dates and that he was "sadly missed by his family."

She said that while she was doing it, she had a weird feeling about Grammy, but she didn't know what it was about.

Well, Gram died on Saturday so her Obituary was in the paper on Monday, the 29th. At the top of the page was her picture, and at the bottom of the page was her first husbands picture.

Too Odd!

I hope that you all have a great weekend, and if you're in the US enjoy your Monday off!

I'm home

First of all, I want to say THANK YOU to everyone for your kind and wonderful support during this time of my Grandmother's passing.

This truly is a global community that we live in, to receive notes from around the world is remarkable.

I have a lot of catching up to do at work, but I wanted to say Thank You, you are all amazing and wonderful people, I wish that I could give each and everyone of you a big hug right now : -)
