Set your status to stun! I'm on the Feast of Fun!
Oh I'm so excited, I got the call last night that made the whole week worthwhile - it was from my friend Fausto asking if I was free to tape an episode of their award winning podcast - the Feast of Fun!
Well you know I just dropped everything I was doing, put my pants on and ran over to their home studio where we sat for an hour and talked about the most outrageous things ever.
Listen to the podcast
Those technological wizards have made it even easier to comment on the show now - you can do it via Twitter. Yep, that's right - all you do is send your comment via Twitter and include #FOF1047 and your comment will automagically appear on the show - how fantastic is that.
I expect to see a lot of comments from you now!!!!
And don't forget to subscribe via iTunes so that you can get the Feast of Fun 5 days a week!

And these were the thumbnails I could choose
I use a Tubemogul to upload my videos, not only does it allow me to upload my videos once and send out to all the sites I belong to - it also lets me choose the "thumbnail" that will represent the video.
When I uploade my Edgewater Dinner Crawl that was held on historic Bryn Mawr Avenue here in Chicago, I got to choose my thumbnail to associate with the video, and these were my choices:
Click view all of it's glory. UGH, what a selection!

Exactly what is happening to those clunkers in the "Cash for Clunkers" program?
The Cash for Clunkers program has been a big hit, evidenced by the fact that the government had to pump an extra $1Billion into the program and that it's due to close just a few weeks after it opened.
Unfortunately my car doesn't qualify for the program - and really I don't want a new car and a new car note, but I've been wondering, what exactly is happening to all of those clunker cars that they're taking off the road?
I've been following up trying to determine, exactly what it is they're doing with those old cars and here's what I've been able to find out:
1) The dealership does something to the car to make it inoperable. Typically they drain the oil, replace it with Sodium Silicate (aka Liquid Glass) and then run the engine until it seizes and is no longer operable. That way they know the car will never run again.
2) Next they get all those cars in a row and head them off to the junkyard where the gas is drained and they compact the car into a cube that's about a foot square.
3) After they get enough of those, they haul them off to the industrial wood chipper where they're chopped up into itty bitty tiny pieces that are then recycled.
But what's happening after that? Where are all those resources going? What about all the metal that's in those cars? Who's getting the benefit of that?
A friend of mine suggested that through the Cash For Clunkers program the government is gearing up for war again, by stockpiling metal....say what? His theory is that all of those clunkers that they wanted to get off the road were huge behemoths that were weighted down by actual metal, chrome and other precious metals. That the government is reclaiming those metals through this program and replacing the cars with those made out of softer non-metal vehicles. Remember when Saturn came out how many years ago with their plastic cars? When was the last time you saw a chrome bumper?
Now Consumer Reports is saying that the government wants your appliances too! And we all know ovens are full of metal.
So what think you? Trying to reduce our need for foreign oil or getting ready for war? There's a conspiracy there somewhere, dontcha think? Plus there's been reports that 4 out of the top 5 selling cars are foreign made - so people aren't even supporting America.

Chess in Concert - drop the newspaper and put it in the DVD Player!
Oh my god, I'm in love!
I am IN LOVE with Chess In Concert!
Earlier this year they did a concert version of the original concept album for Chess and taped it. It was on PBS when it first released as part of their "Great Performances" and I missed it because I don't have a DVR, VCR or Cable - I suck, I know!
But it came yesterday via Netflix and I have to tell you I've listened to it 4 times already. I love it love it love it love it.
I was always intrigued by this show because it has lyrics by Tim Rice (who collaborated with Andrew Lloyd Webber a lot) and Benny and whats his name from Abba!
Yes that's right, the Abba Musical. It never made it big, which is sad because it's actually a very interesting show. One time when I lived in Atlanta I had a roommate who was an electronic musician and wrote the orchestration for this show on his computer and I "ran the sound board" for the show.....or was it wait 'The Secret Garden' which is also a pretty interesting show....whatever.
This performance is phenomenal, Idina Menzel, Josh Groban, Adam Pascal and so many other amazing performers put on a complete concert of the show with a full orchestra, back up dancers, and a full chorus - and it was taped at the Royal Albert Hall (and you know that's fancy).
The very interesting thing I find though is that how some parts of it are so familiar, there are several parts that sounds almost like Evita and other parts that are complete riffs from Abba but before you can quite place it, they're gone. It's almost like how Sunset Boulevard sounds very similar to Aspects of Love in some places.
Ok, I'm done typing, gotta get back and continue watching CHESS!
