What a Great Weekend

I hope that your weekend has been going well, mine has been spectacular so far.

I wanted to share this picture with you because I think it's so freaking cool, and especially the way that it happened.

Two of us were taking David's picture, I had my camera set correctly, my friend did not, but we somehow timed it exactly so that I was able to use his flash but maintain my camera settings.

So far this weekend, I've had more than 20,000 hits to a single page on Whatsaboytodo.net, I've seen fireworks, been to the beach and still have one more day to take it all in and probably even take a nap tomorrow.

I made it on Consumerist! (Again)

Folks, I can't tell you how much "tags" work in Flickr.


I was running through one of my favorite sites this afternoon when there was a post about a Computer Glitch at O'Hare Airport that caused a huge snarl.


As I was reading the article, I said "Wow that picture looks familiar" and lo and behold there at the bottom of the article was a reference to me.


I recently took this picture when we went to Atlanta to visit a friend of mine who is recovering from brain surgery.


So keep snapping pictures, posting and putting tags on them folks you'll never know where they'll end up.


Maybe if you're lucky like Ms. Mac your bed will show up somewhere?!? Hmmmmm

I'm home safe and sound!

Ok, I know you've been worrying about me all day, but I'm home safe and sound. A meeting with another blogger.....uhm....err....I mean Flickrer (that just doesn't sound right) went off without a hitch!

I've met my share of Bloggers, in fact I'm getting pretty good at it now, but it's an entirely different thing meeting a Flickrer in person, there's just so much pressure!

A few weeks back a local Meetup Group organized a trip to the Botanical Gardens so I sent the email to a friend of mine who is interested in Photography and a guy from Flickr that lives in the neighborhood who I've emailed with before about organizing photo outing figuring this would be the perfect outing.

Unfortunately due to scheduling on everyone's part we didn't go then so earlier this week I emailed the guys and asked who wanted to go. It ended up that my friend couldn't go, but my new Flickr friend did.

So I picked him up at 8:00 am and we spent the morning walking around the Chicago Botanical Gardens taking pictures of flowers, rocks, statues and penises like these. We laughed and joked and he showed me how to use my camera, we had a blast of a time and it made me realize that Flickr Folk are just like Blogger Folk, only they speak in pictures and we speak in words.

So go out and meet your Flickr friends, it's ok, they're not as bad as we thought they were.

We had such a good time we promised we'd have to get together again soon to take more pictures.

Oh yeah, I forgot. He lives in a complex where my friend Alex used to live and he knows him...and the other guy that was supposed to go with us is Alex's current boyfriend, how funny would that have been? And he used to live in the building I live in now (not the same unit) back when this was a scary crack neighborhood.

Have you ever visited Consumerist or Gizmodo? They're two of my favorite sites, I mean besides yours of course, yours is my number one favorite.

Gizmodo is all about technology and gadgets, something close to my heart. Every day, they have all sorts of interestings posts, and they've got a snarky attitude - which helps.

The Consumerist is a blog all about consumers, consumers rights, customer service, all of those things I hold near and dear to my heart. I always like to read about who's doing what right and who's doing stuff wrong.

I typically don't read either of these sites on the weekend so I have to run through the archives on Monday......I was reading about the Bank of America potential merger with ABN/Amro where they were discussing the fate of LaSalle Bank. Which as you may know is the sponsor of the Chicago Marathon....attached to the post was a picture of the LaSalle Bank Theater here in Chicago.....it looked vaguely familiar....well it should have, it was MY PICTURE!

I knew those Broadway in Chicago season tickets were going to pay off eventually and that taking tap lessons never would.

For all we know, this may be the beginning of my Yellow Brick Road...first it was Meeting Andilicious, then Loopy Fruit and now THIS!
